John Neville Keynes (1852-1949), political economist, was born at Salisbury, Wiltshire, on 31 August 1852. He was educated at Amersham Hall School, University College London and Pembroke College, Cambridge. He became a Fellow of U.C.L. in 1875, and of Pembroke in 1876. Keynes was university lecturer in moral science at Cambridge, 1884-1911, Secretary of the Local Examinations and Lectures Syndicate, 1892-1910, and University Registrary, 1910-1925.
